School of Art and Design was established in 2015. It hosted the draft of the National Professional Teaching Standards for the programs of Jade Design and Crafts and Jewelry Design and Crafts in higher vocational education under the Ministry of Education. It is also recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as the model base for school-enterprise cooperation in digital creative design for employment, entrepreneurship and innovation. The School has built the “Jade Culture Digital Exhibition Hall”, the first MR (Mixed Reality) digital exhibition experience hall in Guangdong Province. In 2021, the School was nominated for the “National Influential Vocational Education Institute in Science and Art of the Year”.

Currently, the School offers seven programs: Art and Design, Jade Design and Crafts, Product Art Design, Film and Animation, Jewelry Design and Crafts, Digital Media Art and Design, and Environmental Art and Design. Particularly, the Jade Design and Crafts Program is recognized as a national core program and provincial second-class brand program; the “Jade Design and Crafts Program (Innovation of Lingnan Intangible Cultural Heritage)” was included in the first batch of construction projects for high-level specialty groups in vocational colleges in Guangdong Province; and the Art and Design Program is a key program of provincial model college.

Currently, the School has 65 faculty members, including 4 professors, 13 associate professors, and 2 PhD degree holders. It boasts one national outstanding teacher, one provincial teaching master, one provincial model worker, two leading figures in provincial vocational education, one provincial technical expert, two provincial talents cultivated by the “Thousand, Hundred, Ten” Program, one provincial excellent teaching team as well as over 10 intangible cultural heritage masters as guest professors. Moreover, there are more than 60 training rooms for various programs, including the Art and Design Training Base funded by the central government and the provincial Film and Animation Training Base.

Graduates have achieved the employment rate of 99% for consecutive years, with 85% of them getting jobs in their related fields. In recent years, students have won about 550 provincial and national awards, including 125 national awards and 425 provincial awards. The average employment rate of graduates is as high as 97.5%, and the satisfaction of employers is on the rise year by year.
