School of Foreign Languages and International Trade

School of Foreign Languages and International Trade was established in July 2020. It serves as the deputy director of Foreign Languages Teaching Advisory Board of Vocational Colleges under the Ministry of Education and the director of Foreign Languages Teaching Advisory Board of Guangdong Higher Vocational Colleges. It hosted the draft of the National Professional Teaching Standards for Higher Vocational Applied English Program and Business English Program; it was a key member in drafting the National Professional Teaching Standards for Higher Vocational Business Japanese Program; and it hosted the draft of the Provincial Professional Teaching Standards for Business English Program. Currently, it offers 8 programs including Business English, Applied English, Tourism English, Business Japanese, Applied Korean, Applied Spanish, International Economics and Trade, and Cross-border E-commerce. Its Business English Specialty Group is in the first batch of high-level specialty groups in Guangdong province; the Business English Program as a provincial key program and a central government funded program boasts its talent cultivation model in winning the first prize of the 7th Guangdong Teaching Achievement Award. Business Japanese is listed as a key program under the Ministry of Education and a provincial second-class brand program, Tourism English as a provincial key program and International Economics and Trade as a provincial second-class brand program.

Currently, the School has 140 faculty members, including 4 foreign teachers. Among them, there are 45 teachers with senior professional titles, 20 with overseas study experience and 4 with PhD degrees. Additionally, there are 70 guest professors and enterprise experts. The faculty members have won various teaching competitions, including one national first prize, one national second prize and seven provincial first prizes in teaching competitions, and one provincial first prize in Young Teachers’ Teaching Competition. The School has cooperated extensively with foreign enterprises and schools, attracted 26 Japanese students, provided our students with paid internship opportunities in foreign countries (such as the U.S., Japan, New Zealand, Malaysia, etc.) as well as offered the gateway for overseas further study, employment and immigration.
